She started her still-growing modelling career after she was chosen to shoot for the iconic LOVE magazine by the British duo David Sims and Katie Grand. Since then, she has been associated with some of the biggest fashion brands in America.
Josie walked the ramp as Victoria's Secret Angel in New York and Miami and has been the cover girl for magazines like Harper's Bazaar and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Her parents, Jessica and Jose Canseco, met when Jose was playing as a big league player in the MLB.
His rollercoaster lifestyle on and off the field meant that their wedding was also going to be a different affair altogether. Jessica and Jose Canseco met at a Hooter's outlet, where she was part-timing as a waitress.
Not everything was hunky dory between the duo, but Jessica's pregnancy announcement brought them closer, and they got married in Miami, Florida, at the bedside of Jose Canseco, who had injured his back in August 1996. Josie was born a little over two months later, in November.
Their marriage fell apart three years later, and Jessica and Jose Canseco decided to get a divorce, which was settled in 1999. Despite her parents parting ways, Josie is close to both her parents, has developed herself into a fashion brand and is actively engaged in charity work.
Jose Canseco's daughter, Josie, enjoys charity work
In an exclusive interview with Harper's Bazaar Vietnam, Josie shed light on the charity work she's actively engaged in as she said:
"I’ve always had a soft spot for animals, and the way they feel and love humans, but without any voice.
"The way they suffer and are mistreated by humans on occasions breaks my heart, so I’ve been working on farms and with animal shelters since I was around 10 years old. It’s important to me because I feel it’s my purpose, to help and nurture these vulnerable animals."
She added:
"The more I educated myself on animal cruelty, the more passionate I naturally became about it. I hope to one day open my own sanctuary for neglected and abused animals and give them a place to rehabilitate while we find their forever homes."
Over the years, she has maintained her brand value as she keeps staying associated with and working for some of the biggest and most luxurious brands globally.
