"Sad society we're living in" - Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman takes issue with police brutality while honoring Sonya Massey 

Bodycam video of the fatal shooting of Sonya Massey was released by Illinois State Police on Monday, shocking New York Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman. Much of the fatal incident involved a pot of water that Massey was holding.

The officer could be heard shouting to drop the pot, but it was to no avail. The officer fired three rounds which was met by silence. Moments later, the officer who fired the shots can be heard defending his actions.

Sean Grayson, the officer who shot Massey, has been charged with murder by a Sangamon County grand jury. However, Stroman wants more justice for Massey and the community.

"Y'all gonna be silent on this topic...but loud and hateful when your team loses a game. Sad society we're living in. Prayers and blessings to the family of Sonya Massey. The trauma that the black community continually deals with is frustrating and beyond repair!" - said Stroman.

Stroman called out baseball fans who he believes have been quiet on the issue. He wants to see them take a stand, just like they do when their favorite team is not playing up to expectations.

Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman also took to his Instagram account to speak on the matter. He is tired of seeing this time and time again to his black brothers and sisters.

"Just another day in America. It's beyond tiring seeing innocent black human beings murdered in cold blood. Being black in America is incredibly scary. Racism is thriving but y'all will pretend to not notice. Wake up and understand how f****d up this is...regardless of the color of your skin,"

I couldn't imagine what they're going through. Prayers and blessings to her family and the entire black community. We'll rise and overcome as always!"

Stroman is tired of seeing innocent people gunned down where they should feel safe. This has been a problem and will continue to be one until something seriously changes.

This was a situation that could have been very easily avoided. It is tragic to see yet another death that should have never happened in the first place.
