For MLB players such as Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe, days off are hard to come by. However, despite their requirement to play 162 games in a six month period, the New York Yankees stars know how to capitalize on their fleeting off-days.
On Thursday, Volpe and Judge, alongside teammates Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton, were among the Yankees stars spotted at the US Open. The Tennis Grand Slam tournament commenced on Aug. 19, and will run through Sept. 9, with games being played in Flushing, Queens.

"A bunch of Yankees spent the off day at the US Open!"
Thursday's off day for the Yankees came after a mid-week series loss to the Washington Nationals on the road, a team 17 games worse than the Yankees. Due to this, some fans thought that the break was ill-deserved.
Despite the criticisms coming from fans online, Anthony Volpe and Aaron Judge have been two of the highest-performing members of the New York Yankees of late. Over the past seven days, Volpe has hit .304, while MLB-home run leader Aaron Judge currently boasts a .316 batting figure with three home runs and five RBIs in his last 19 at-bats.
"How about they focus on the season" - spat one fan
"They need to be practicing" - opined another
"How about you all go practice playing baseball instead" - claimed another unimpressed onlooker
Following the leisurely day off at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, the Yankees stars in question will embark on a homestand. First, the St. Louis Cardinals will arrive in town, followed by a weekend set against the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium.
"They should all be locked in a room shaming themselves" - came another derisive view
"Should have spent it checking their nuts for fleas" - said another
"hit the cages or something" - came a final voice of criticism
Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe's manager knows the plan
Although the Yankees maintain a slim lead over the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East, everyone on the club knows that the nex month is huge. As manager Aaron Boone told Big News Network after the Washington series:
"We've got to keep creating as many opportunities as possible, but we didn't do enough the last two nights pushing runs across."
Although the stakes are high, MLB players deserve time off as well. Apparently, that is not a good excuse for a wide array of fans.
