Top MLB DFS picks - Aug. 23

Pitchers

Chris Sale ($11100 on DraftKings, $10500 in Fanduel)

On Friday, Atlanta Braves starter Chris Sale will make his 24th start of the season. Now 35 years old, Sale is putting up numbers that remind fans of his dominant seasons a half decade ago. Now 14-3, Sale's .824 winning percentage and 2.63 ERA leads all AL starters. On Friday, Sale will seek to stiffle the Nationals.

Carlos Rodon ($9700 on DraftKings, $10800 on Fanduel)

After struggling through the months of June and July, Carlos Rodon of the New York Yankees seems to have regained his stride. Now 4-1 with a 3.25 ERA since July 20, the former Cy Young contender is now 13-8 with a 4.34 ERA. Rodon will take to the mound on Friday against the Rockies.

Luis Castillo ($9800 on DraftKings, $9700 on Fanduel)

Luis Castillo will start the first Seattle Mariners game since 2016 without manager Scott Servais in the dugout. Servais was dismissed on Friday after his club's 2-8 run over their past ten.

"Hard for a pitcher to embarrass a hitter more than Luis Castillo did Jose Iglesias here" - Talkin' Baseball

Despite their troubles, the Mariners remain the best pitching team in MLB, and Luis Castillo has played his part. The Dominican is 10-12 with a 3.51 ERA across an AL-high 26 starts on the bump this season. Although Castillo surrendered four earned runs in 5.1 innings in his last start, the lefthander surrendered just one earned run in six innings, striking out nine in his start before that against the Mets.

Top Hitters

Corbin Carroll ($6500 on DraftKings, $3300 on Fanduel)

Although defending NL Rookie of the Year Corbin Carroll is not replicating his success from last season, the Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder is still a speed threat with a pop in his bat.

In addition to leading the NL in triples with 11, Carroll is 21-for-26 in steal attempts this season, and has hit a commendable .283 with five home runs and 10 RBIs in his last 13 games.

Marcell Ozuna of the Braves enters his club's weekend series against the Washington Nationals leading the NL in RBIs and batting average, and the highest full-season OPS of his career. Currently boasting 37 home runs on the season, Ozuna is very likely to surpass his career high of 40, which was set last season.

Aaron Judge ($6900 on DraftKings, $5000 on Fanduel)

Aaron Judge put on a spectacle in the Yankees' recent series against the Cleveland Guardians. Over three games, Judge went 5-for-11 with four home runs and seven RBIs.
