One of the most exciting plays in baseball is the inside-the-park home run. Given the incredible athleticism, determination and luck, it's one of the most rare and uncommon plays in the game. According to the MLB, there tends to average of less than 13 inside-the-park home runs total per season.

In a Korea Baseball Organization matchup between the KT Wiz and the Hanwha Eagles, there were two inside-the-park home runs. Although they would be considered unofficial home runs given the defensive errors on the play, the fact that a batter from each team was able to score without hitting it out of the park was incredible.

The July 4 showdown between two of the bottom-ranked teams in the KBO turned out to be one of the most exciting games that fans could watch. The Hanwha Eagles beat the KT Wiz 13-5, in part to the contributions of former Chicago Cubs minor league outfielder Yonathan Perlaza.

Although neither of the plays were officially ruled as inside-the-park home runs, they undoubtedly added to an action-packed showdown between the two clubs. Both teams combined for a whopping five errors in the game, three of which came in the fourth inning. Jeong Jun-young led the game with two errors for the KT Wiz.

Two of the MLB's brightest young stars have recorded inside-the-park home runs this season

Although it's incredibly rare, two of the best young players in the MLB have recorded their own inside-the-parkers this season. Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds and Wyatt Langford of the Texas Rangers have added to their home run totals, thanks to their elite base-running speed.

Given the increasing number of elite athletes who have made their way to the MLB in recent years, it's unsurprising to see the number of inside-the-park homers increase over time.

The modern MLB is built on speed and power, so perhaps one day we will see multiple inside-the-park homers in the game.
