The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a midseason trade to acquire 29-year-old infielder Cavan Biggio. The Dodgers exchanged minor league pitcher Braydon Fisher for Biggio with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

After joining the Dodgers, Biggio had the early opportunity to showcase his skills in their home series against the Texas Rangers. In his debut game, he got his first hit, a line drive to left field against the Rangers’ Jacob Latz. His father, a Houston Astron Hall of Famer, Craig Biggio was attending the game at Dodger Stadium.

However, Craig seemed unimpressed by his son's debut with the Dodgers. This could be due to Cavan Biggio's 1-for-3 performance without any runs or RBIs. He also made a fielding error earlier in the fifth, allowing Marcus Semien to reach base. Coupled with Corey Seager’s three-run homer, the Rangers took a 3-1 lead in that inning.

Despite attempting to close the gap in the final inning, the Dodgers ultimately failed and lost the game with a close 2-3 score. This tied the series after the Rangers' brutal first-game loss, with one game remaining.

Cavan Biggio is looking forward to his future with the Dodgers

Cavan Biggio was excited about joining the Dodgers and is expecting to make significant contributions to the team.

“To have a team like the Dodgers come and pick me up after my time in Toronto, where I spent so many years with so many relationships there, and playing against this team about a month and a half ago,” Biggio said, per MLB.com. “Obviously very special and very fortunate and grateful to be here.”

The Dodgers acquired Biggio in a midseason trade to address their infield issues. Although he made a crucial error in his first game at third base, he is determined to contribute to the team's success.

“I know the player that I can be,” he said. “I know what I’m capable of, I know that I can reach it and I’m hoping to do so with the Dodgers.”

However, Cavan Biggio is going through a rough patch, with only nine RBIs, 15 runs, and two home runs in 45 games (44 with the Blue Jays) this season with a slash line of .204/.323/.292, and a .615 OPS.

The Dodgers may rotate him with Miguel Rojas and Kiké Hernández at third base, and they could also explore his outfield abilities, especially since the club recently sent outfielder Miguel Vargas to the minors.
