Former Philadelphia Phillies All-Star John Kruk had a fun time in the Phillies broadcast booth as the Phillies played against the Washington Nationals in the final game of the series on Sunday.
During the fourth inning of the series finale, Kruk's co-announcer, Tom McCarthy, urged the former Phillies first baseman to scare a kid leaning out of the window next to the booth.
“I’m gonna talk to this kid,” Kruk said. “I ain’t got nothing else to do.”
“See if you can scare him," replied McCarthy.
What followed was comedy gold as John Kruk shouted "Hey" at the fan to startle him. The kid was perplexed for a few seconds while Kruk and McCarthy couldn't contain their laughter.
“You scared him,” said McCarthy. “You scared the poor kid. Look, he’s looking over…
Following the incident, Kruk and the fan shared a wave and the Phillies legend also gave the kid a thumbs up.
Philadelphia Phillies aim for postseason success after Sunday's win
The Phillies' postseason berth was sealed a while ago, but Sunday's 6-3 win over the Nationals secured them a home-field advantage for the World Series if the New York Yankees also make it to the Fall Classic.
The Phillies secured the second seed and will get a few days off as they won't be part of the Wild Cards. However, Phillies star Nick Castellanos, who made his 162nd appearance of the season on Sunday, isn't taking anything for granted.
“Don’t be so happy-go-lucky and think of these five days as a vacation rather than just some down time,” Castellanos said. “Still remain focused and concentrate on whatever we have scheduled that day."
"I think we just know how important every day is. Win today and tomorrow will take care of itself. We’ve got a bunch of guys who buy into that philosophy.”
The Phillies will be in action on Saturday after five days of rest for the NLDS. Although the regular season has concluded, their NLDS opponents are yet to be decided as the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets, both fighting for a playoff spot, will face off in a doubleheader on Monday.
