After losing 8-3 to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks went into the final game of their three-game series at Chase Field on Thursday with Jordan Montgomery on the mound, hoping to win the series. However, Montgomery and the D-backs were rocked right from the start.

The starting pitcher struggled mightily, recording his worst start of the season. He pitched for 2.2 innings, giving up eight runs (four earned) on nine hits with one walk and one strikeout, increasing his ERA to 6.03.

Fans booed Montgomery as he left the mound in the third inning. He went to the dugout and threw his glove against the dugout wall in frustration.

Jordan Montgomery then vented his anger further by throwing the PitchCom device against the wall multiple times.

Here is the clip of the moment shared by Talkin’ Baseball:

After a strong 2023 season where he helped the Texas Rangers to the World Series title, Jordan Montgomery has struggled in 2024 after signing late due to a long free agency. He missed spring training and only inked a one-year, $25 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks after opening day.

Jordan Montgomery's pitching woes and defensive struggles lead to 13-6 loss against the Twins

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost 13-6 against the Minnesota Twins as they also dropped the three-game series. After an error-filled second inning, coupled with Montgomery's subpar pitching, the Twins had a lead of 6-0.

In the third inning, Willi Castro's triple and Manuel Margot's sacrifice fly scored two runs, extending their lead. In the fourth inning, the Twins' Byron Buxton hit a 456-foot home run, driving in three more runs.

The D-backs offense responded by bringing in four runs in the fourth. But after Royce Lewis' double and Jose Miranda's second sacrifice fly of the game, the score was 13-4 Twins.

Christian Walker's RBI groundout scored a run for the Diamondbacks in the fifth inning. Kevin Newman's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning brought in another run, setting the final score of the game.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will face the Oakland Athletics on Friday in the opener of their three-game series.
