NHL team the Anaheim Ducks unveiled new home and away jerseys and a revamped logo earlier this week. Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout shared his reaction to the new look of the California-based NHL team.
Mike Trout, who played his last MLB game on April 30 and has been out of action after undergoing knee surgery, received a surprise gift from the Anaheim Ducks. The three-time AL MVP was impressed by the new look of the jersey that embodies the team’s home in Orange County.
"That's what I'm talking about. These are sick. So that's the new logo huh, that's sweet," Trout said in admiration of the jersey.
The Anaheim Ducks unveiled their new kit while embracing their iconic duck mask in bold orange color. This is the fourth iteration of a Ducks jersey with the last jersey featuring a “D” shaped like a duck’s foot from 2014-2024.
“As our organization enters a new chapter of Anaheim Ducks hockey, we are proud to reveal our new, refreshed logo and uniform kit that identifies with the Orange County community,” Anaheim Ducks owners said in an official statement.
Mike Trout is among several local celebrities who have gotten the new jersey before anyone else. Fellow MLB player and rookie sensation Paul Skenes also received a jersey from the Ducks.
“Sweet. Got the old hockey mask,” Skenes said of the logo. “Gonna have to come out to a game.”
Ron Washington shares Mike Trout's excitement on potential return
The Los Angeles Angels received a body blow to their playoff chances after star slugger Mike Trout suffered a knee injury in April. The 11-time All-Star underwent a knee surgery on May 3.
While there isn't a confirmed timetable around Trout's potential return to action, Angels manager Ron Washington said the veteran star was excited by his progress and is edging closer to a return.
“He was really excited when I walked in,” Washington said. “He told me ‘Skip, I’m about there.’ About there where he can get out and start doing things. So it’s going to be up to the medical staff when that happens, but he’s in a better mood than the last week or so when he said that he was having discomfort.
The latest update comes after Trout admitted earlier this month that his recovery was slower than he expected. Ron Washington's team completed a shutout victory in the series opener against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday to extend their winning streak to four games.
