Field storming is common in every sport. Some fans invade pitches to meet their sports idol in person, while others do so for name and followers on social media. However, it’s a fun game interruption that fans don’t mind seeing.

But no matter how fun the activity seems, it is still illegal and can draw a fine of up to $5,000. However, that didn't stop two teenagers from pulling the daring move at Comerica Park halfway through the Twins-Tigers game on Saturday.

It seemed like the two had a dare who could stay on the field longer. The security quickly intervened, but the boys had plenty of energy to spare. They moved past the chasers for initial minutes before getting caught in their little run-and-chase game. As they were escorted toward the exit, fans bid them farewell with loud cheers.

However, the shocking part was they were handcuffed when escorted out.

The viral video of the teens escorted out in cuffs received mixed reactions. The boys did commit a punishable offense, endangering the safety of the players, but was it grave enough to put them in handcuffs?

The boys in question, aged around 13 years, are now in the custody of the Detroit Police Department, per the Detroit Tigers management.

What’ll happen to the kids arrested for trespassing ground in the Tigers game?

Given their age, the boys will likely be handled sensitively rather than given a harsh punishment.

“We understand that young fans get excited, but safety and security are our top priorities,” a Tigers spokesperson said (via tmtmspn.com).
“Running onto the field is not only dangerous but also disrupts the game and puts everyone at risk. We urge all fans to respect the rules and enjoy the game from the stands.”

The Tigers’ management is committed to creating a safe and fun spectating environment for the fans and children. It is reviewing its security to prevent such incidents in future games.
