Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts' World Series aspirations seem like a distant dream as the Dodgers offense has failed to deliver over the last few games. The team's losing streak continues after dropping their fifth straight game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds.
One of the biggest reasons for their loss was the team's poor offense. The Dodgers' pitching staff also struggled as they failed to gain control over the mound. On Sunday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reflected on the loss and the team's struggles in an interview with LASports Net.
"It just seems like we were running cold. When your not hitting it certainly feels lifeless," Roberts said.
The 51-year-old further stated that at the end of the day, it was all about results and the members knew the situation and challenges.
"The bottom line is that it's about results, and we're not getting them right now. I think everyone in that clubhouse understands that. We just have to keep going. There's no team that's gonna feel sorry for you" Roberts continued.
Roberts further stated that it is a grown man's game and the team will need to get things in place and find a way out of their struggles.
Dave Roberts believes a few players are wavering
Dave Roberts has to deal with several issues apart from just winning games for the club. Roberts believes that a few players are uncertain and wavering. However, he thinks it's natural for players to experience such struggles in crunch situations.
Despite their losing skid, Roberts is keen on pushing his team forward and getting back on track soon. In the last two games, their offense scored just two runs against the Reds. Defensively, they surrendered seven runs in two games.
The Dodgers offense failed to reach home plate on several instances. Nick Martinez dominated the Dodgers offense in their previous game. Despite eight strikeouts, Yoshinobu Yamamoto surrendered four earned runs in five innings. The pitcher dropped his record to 5-2.
It's a long season ahead as the teams hold the sixth-best record in the MLB. While there might be time to get back on track, Roberts and his squad will need to come back stronger, especially after losing a series against a team that sits at the bottom of the NL Central.
