The Atlanta Braves have been without a key component to their lineup, outfielder Michael Harris II. The slugger missed two months of action after he was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his left hamstring.
After a long and grueling rehab process, the former NL Rookie of the Year is ready to return. The club announced on Wednesday that he has been reinstated from the injured list.
Moreover, the team optioned outfielder Eli White to Triple-A Gwinnett and designated RHP Parker Dunshee for assignment. Dunshee is coming off his debut where he struggled, giving up five runs over 2.1 innings.
Atlanta fans are not too keen on the front office's decision to send White down to Triple-A. He has stepped up for the club when his name was called upon, starting in center field.
"Why is Duvall still employed" - one fan said.
"What a joke. Eli White helps this team way more than Adam Duvall does and he gets sent down? JOKE" - said another.
"AA will let a franchise legend in Freddie Freeman walk but he can’t DFA Adam Duvall. Wild - said another.
Duvall has struggled to get anything going this season. Through 93 games, he has hit .178/.240/.315 with 10 home runs and 29 runs batted in, which has not been good enough with Ronald Acuna Jr. out for the season.
"Eli White so much better than Duvall. Mind numbing" - said another.
"Awful decision put the best team out there. Really disappointing" - said another.
"Duvall is a nice guy so he'll stay" - said another.
Unfortunately for the fanbase, they will have to settle for Duvall remaining in the lineup, but Harris' return should help spark some light back into this offense.
Braves getting a huge boost with Michael Harris II returning
With the injuries to Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II, the Braves outfield struggled. Nine different players have received playing time in the outfield, but it just hasn't worked out.
Now, they have their center fielder back and another option at the leadoff spot to give Jorge Soler protection. That's also perfect timing to potentially get on a hot streak.
Atlanta has been able to keep themselves in the thick of things in the National League East. they are just six games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.
