The much-awaited release of MLB The Show 23 has finally arrived, but some players are unable to access this edition’s most notable feature – face scanning. This feature lets users scan their own faces to create a player based on their likeness that can be used in the game.
However, the face-scanning feature requires the MLB The Show Companion App, which is currently only available on Android devices. iOS users, on the other hand, are still waiting for the latest update to arrive, which will bring the Companion App up to date with MLB The Show 23.
Many users experienced issues with the feature, getting "MLB The Show 23 Face Scan Not Working" messages.
The game's official Twitter page acknowledged the issue and posted this statement:
"We're aware that Android users are experiencing a longer than usual delay for their face scans to show in game. Our team is investigating and working to resolve as soon as possible. The iOS version is still on the way. Thank you for your patience."
Why is MLB The Show 23’s iOS app still not available?
While the situation is undoubtedly frustrating for players, it is unlikely that the responsibility for this lies upon the game developers. Some speculate that it might actually be Apple’s fault as it is believed to still be processing the update before its release
The news comes as a disappointment for fans who have been eagerly anticipating the release of this year’s MLB The Show. The inability to use the face-scanning feature has left some players feeling frustrated, especially as it is one of the game's most significant new additions.
While there haven’t been any major overhauls from the previous version, the game developers have added some new features such as cross-platform play.
Despite the setback, players can still enjoy the game across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. A review of the game is expected to be released soon, offering a more detailed look at MLB The Show 23.
