Right before the MLB Trade Deadline closed, the New York Yankees acquired pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. They sent infielder Ben Cowles and Jack Neely to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for the righty.
Mark, the son of Mark Leiter and the nephew of Al Leiter, has been a solid arm in Chicago over the last few seasons. He has made 39 appearances this season, compiling a 4.21 ERA across 36.1 innings of work.
The bullpen was an area of need for the Bronx Bombers ahead of the trade deadline, and Leiter Jr. will give them a boost. He was already used in Tuesday's and Wednesday's wins over the Philadelphia Phillies,
It was a great first showing with his new club, and he could get a lot of work in high-leverage situations. Expect to see a lot of him during this second-half run.

Ahead of the trade with the Cubs, the New York Yankees had two open roster spots. They didn't have to make a move to bring Mark Leiter Jr. onto the active roster, which makes for a seamless transition.
Mark Letter joins a predominantly right-handed dominant bullpen, with Tim Hill being the only LHP. However, this is still a stable of arms that can get the job done.
