Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Colten Brewer was pulled out from the game against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. He punched a dugout wall in frustration which resulted in a fractured left hand, and his name was added to the injured list.

Colten Brewer claimed the frustration got the better of him after an underwhelming outing. He entered the third inning to relieve Kyle Hendricks, however, Brewer got pulled after giving up three runs on two hits, hitting a batter, allowing two walks, and just two outs. He also committed a throwing error, in the Cubs' 7-0 shutout defeat to the Angels.

The fans chimed in with their opinions on the incident.

"You should be fired from your job without pay for doing something stupid like that," one fan opined.
"Why do people do this," another fan expressed his confusion.

There were other comments on the post that shared a similar sentiment to this incident:

"Why do people continue to do this. The end result is always the same," one fan asked.
"He fought the wall and the wall won," one fan said.
"Teams may need to start padding the dugout walls like they do the outfield walls," one fan suggested.
"They shouldn’t get paid the time they’re out when they do stuff like this…," one fan reacted.
"Walls are still undefeated," one fan commented.

The right-hander has been part of 16 games this season, he holds a 5.66 ERA with no postings. Moreover, Colten Brewer has accumulated 22 strikeouts, a save and a blown save, and 9 walks.

Colten Brewer regrets acting out on impulse

Last night, the Cubs redeemed themselves in the third game of the series against the Angels with a 5-0 lead. However, Colten Brewer wasn't part of the 26-man roster as he was replaced by Hunter Bigge from Triple-A Iowa.

Hunter Bigge might be a great prospect for the Cubs. In just 11 games at Triple-A, his ERA is only 0.77. That means for every 9 innings he pitches, he allows less than 1 run. On top of that, his WHIP is just 0.686.

However, Brewer isn't too happy being on the 60-day injured list.

"My intention wasn't to break my hand," Brewer said. "I'll get frustrated and make mistakes. That's no excuse. There's a lot I can prove out there, that I'm willing not to do stuff like that. Emotions get the best of us sometimes."

It's to be seen if Brewer makes it back to aid the team's pursuit of a postseason spot. Meanwhile, the fans will have their eyes set on rookie Hunter Bigge.
