Rob Thomson is a Canadian former baseball player and serving as a manager as of 2024. He was born on August 16, 1963, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Thomson played baseball at the University of Kansas, leading the team in hits in 1984 and 1985. He also holds the school record for the highest single-season batting average.

In the 1985 Major League Baseball draft, Thomson was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 32nd round. He went on to have a playing career in the Tigers' minor league system, playing as a catcher, third baseman, and pitcher. Thomson represented Canada in baseball in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He served as a coach for the New York Yankees from 2008 to 2017, where he was a part of the coaching staff for the Yankees' championship team in 2009. In 2018, Thomson joined the Philadelphia Phillies organization as a bench coach. In June 2022, he was promoted to manager of the Phillies.
