The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the oldest and one of the most successful teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) as of 2024. Originally formed as the St. Louis Brown Stockings in 1882, they went through three more name changes before naming themselves the St. Louis Cardinals in 1900. The team has been a member of the National League (NL) since 1892, first representing the East Division and then the Central Division since 1994. They have won eleven World Series Championships so far, along with nineteen National League (NL) championships and fourteen division league titles.
The St. Louis Cardinals, through their 143 seasons of existence, have built up strong rivalries with their American League (AL) rival the Kansas City Royals, the Chicago Cubs, the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have also managed to produce notable players like Adam Wainwright, Paul Goldschmidt, Miles Mikolas and Lars Nootbaar among others. Busch Stadium also serves as their location for home games since 2006.
Who is the St. Louis Cardinals Manager in 2024?
Oliver Jose Marmol is the present manager of the St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball (MLB). A native of Orlando, Florida, United States, he was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2004 but he did not sign and instead played college baseball for the Charles Cougars at the College of Charleston. He was again drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2007 and then played minor league baseball under his team till he retired as a player.
Following Oliver Marmol’s retirement as a player, he remained associated with the St. Louis Cardinals as a coach. He coached and managed the minor league teams till 2016. The St. Louis Cardinals made him their first base coach before the 2017 season and then made him the bench coach in 2019.
