New York Yankees legends Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter saw many ups and downs in their friendship. The teammates once had a rift after A-Rod made a derogatory comment about Jeter.
The two were initially good friends and the duo made one of the best teams. Unfortunately, Rodriguez's disparaging remarks about Jeter put an end to their famous friendship.
During Rodriguez's infamous 2001 interview with Esquire, Jeter came to the conclusion that the latter was not a "true friend." Here's what A-Rod said on the matter:

“There’s not one thing he does better than me.”
A-Rod was allegedly "diminishing" Jeter to support his own lucrative salary, according to Jeter.
“In my mind, he got his contract, so you’re trying to diminish what I’m doing, maybe to justify why you got paid. When you talk about statistics, mine never compared to Alex’s. I’m not blind. I understand that. But, we won! You can say whatever you want about me as a player. That’s fine."
A-Rod did not attend Jeter's jersey retirement ceremony despite the fact that he applauded him when he was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
"To The Captain Derek Jeter - congratulations on taking your rightful place in the Baseball Hall of Fame where you will be, for eternity, as one of history’s greatest players, at any position, in any era." - Alex Rodriguez
Jeter and Rodriguez were the core of the Yankees for years. From 2004 to A-Rod's suspension during the 2014 season, the two played together in baseball's most illustrious squad.
Will Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez be working together at FOX?
The FOX baseball team made the announcement that Jeter would be joining the broadcast team for the 2023 season during their coverage of Super Bowl LVII. On stage, he was spotted hugging Rodriguez.
"Derek Jeter has officially joined the Fox MLB team" - Talkin' Yanks
Jeter's career was characterized by charm and dedication to his audience. To argue that Jeter was a Yankees star in the early 2000s would not be an exaggeration.
