Aaron Judge turned down 12-year, $415 million contract offer from San Diego Padres

All eyes were on reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge as he walked into free agency in the offseason. Many thought it would come down to just two teams: the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants.

Late into free agent talks, the San Diego Padres surprised everyone and stepped in. They reportedly offered him a 12-year, $415 million deal that he would ultimately turn down to re-sign with the Bronx Bombers.

Judge re-signed with the Yankees on a nine-year, $360 million deal. He'll get more money per season from the Yankees but left $55 million guaranteed on the table.

This really shows Judge's commitment to New York. It's somewhere that he feels comfortable and he knows they can put together a team to win a World Series title.

"New loyalty standard: Aaron Judge," one fan tweeted.
"Dude wants to be a Yankee. Simple as that," said another fan.

Seeing this puts a smile on the faces of New York Yankees fans. The front office made no mistake in naming him the captain this season.

Some baseball fans are trying to figure out where the San Diego Padres get all this money from. They have two $300 million players on their team and Xander Bogaerts on a $280 million contract.

Not many players mean as much to their organization as Aaron Judge does to the New York Yankees. He's the team's heart and soul. The team moves as he does. Judge signing anywhere else but the Bronx would have been devastating.

The front office was adamant that they would bring in talent behind Judge and did just that by signing Carlos Rodon. Rodon is one of the best left-handed starting pitchers in the league. He'll fit in nicely behind the team's ace Gerrit Cole.

More recently, the team announced that prospect Oswald Peraza would be the team's Opening Day shortstop. They seem to be moving past Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who struggled both at the plate and in the field last season. While Peraza only has a few MLB games under his belt, he should be a huge upgrade at the position.

With a bolstered starting rotation and the rise of some prospects, Aaron Judge should have some more help this season. Watch out for the Yankees this year.
