The Celtics' have been nothing short of phenomenal this season

5 minutes into the season, the Celtics lost Gordon Hayward, their best player for the season. Almost a month later, the Celtics are 12-2 with the best record in the NBA. They have played phenomenally well. Al Horford looks like an early favorite for Defensive Player of the Year. Kyrie Irving has shown he can be the true leader of a team and is just more than a scoring option. He has even committed to defense. However, the Celtics' success this season can't be attributed to these 2 players alone. The whole team has stepped up.

Only 4 players from last season's roster returned. 7 of the 14 players on the team are rookies. Barring Al Horford, no player has more than 6 years of NBA experience. A young team, hungry to succeed has been doing all the right things all season. They've played 2 games without Horford this season and yet they've won. One without Kyrie and the result is still the same. This next man up mentality has served them well so far and they can only go on an upward trajectory from here on now as the players will continue to improve in the spotlight.
