DeMar DeRozan is the purest midrange scorer in the NBA right now. He completely plays old school, creates his shot for himself mostly. Idolizing Kobe Bryant, he seems like a Kobe impersonator using a lot of his moves in the game. He can nearly do everything from the pull-up jump shot, the fade away, the step-back. Everything from midrange is in his arsenal.
Although now with the Toronto Raptors are modernizing their offense, he has less isolation midrange plays which can be seen in his significant decrease in attempts per game from midrange, which apparently has increased his efficiency too as his shot selection gets better with the ball moving. Still, he is one of the players who highly depends on their mid-range game and is their main go-to-offense.
DeRozan is taking 37.0% of his total shots from the midrange this year, which is down from 48.3% last year.
