Angola won the 27th FIBA Africa Championship for Men (2013 AfroBasket) beating Egypt 57-40 in the final played at Cote d’Ivorie.
It is Angola’s 11th African Basketball title in 24 years. Carlos Morais led Angola with a game-high 21 points. The teams entered the final having already accomplished a major goal by booking their tickets for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain next year.
Angola were unbeaten in six games while Egypt lost their three Preliminary Round games before rolling off three consecutive and impressive wins in the final Round over defending champions Tunisia, Cape Verde and Senegal.

Egypt took the first quarter 13-12 only for Angola to fight back to take the second and third quarter 16-8 and 18-7 respectively. Although Egypt won the last quarter 12-11, they could not stop Angola from claiming the continental honours.
The 2013 edition of AfroBasket was held at Cote d’Ivoire’s capital city of Abidjan from 20 to 31 August 2013, with 16 African nations fighting for the prestigious title.
The 27th edition of the AfroBasket ended on August 31, 2013 with following honours.
