Defending champions Angola retained the AfroBasket Women‘s Championship courtesy a 64-61 win over hosts Mozambique.

Angola took the first and second quarter 16-15 and 15-14 respectively to go to half-time break with two-point lead.

After the break, Angola also took the third quarter 15-11 to extend the lead going to the last quarter. But the hosts took the last quarter 14-8 to force the match to the overtime.

Angola outscored their opponents 10-7 in OT and defended their crown.

Meanwhile, Senegal beat Cameroon 63-56 for the bronze.

Angola’s captain Nacessila Mauricio was adjudged MVP of the championship.

Angola and Mozambique also qualified for the 17th edition of the 2014 FIBA World Cup for women to be held in Turkey.
