#1. It guarantees that the Lakers will have an All-Star alongside LeBron James
When taking all facts into consideration, the Lakers should have no trouble in attracting a second All-Star to play alongside LeBron James. They are one of the most famous sports teams on the planet, and there is nothing like the lure of both living and playing in Los Angeles.
However, the Lakers have been continually rejected by a number of stars, most notably, Los Angeles native Paul George, who rejected a move last summer in favor of staying in Oklahoma City.

Despite their recent rejections, the Lakers still believe that they can finally attract a second star such as Kyrie Irving this summer, although there are no guarantees of this happening. Targeting Green would at least ensure that the team has a second star alongside the NBA's biggest star.
Admittedly, Green is not in the same bracket as either Irving or Davis, however, the addition of the 3-time All-Star would almost immediately make the Lakers a certainty for the 2020 playoffs.
