#2 Mentality

You could argue that no player had the passion and mentality to match Ben Wallace during his era of reign. Wallace was known for giving it 110% on a nightly basis. He became one of the most dominant defensive big men in the game. Now Wallace has got to continue to showcase that passion for the organization he called home for nine years. Throughout his 16-years in the NBA, Wallace rarely ever took his foot off the gas. He was a player who never backed down from a challenge. With his new role in the Front Office, you can bet that Wallace will be a relentless worker to help the Pistons organization in any way possible. It's always a great idea to have a former player inside the organization as well, as these players have continued to build relationships throughout the NBA.

This is the most crucial part of Ben Wallace's hiring. It's crucial to the future of the Detroit Pistons as Wallace could be the perfect asset to help the young culture of incoming talent. It had been reported throughout the offseason that Wallace was spending a lot of time working with the bigs for the Pistons on crafting their games. One of the rising stars on the Detroit Pistons roster is second-year big man Isaiah Stewart. Ironically enough, Stewart has the exact type of mentality and defensive skill that his mentor had. Earlier, head coach Dwane Casey was asked about how it's been having Wallace around on a more permanent basis.

"Huge, huge," Casey said last week. "Just showing them tricks of the trade, post defense. Ben is going to be with us this week in training camp working with our big guys with post defense and showing them the tricks of the trade there. Just to have Ben around and have him as an example for Isaiah and Luka (Garza) and Kelly (Olynyk) is so important just because of his experience and what he’s done and what he means to this franchise."

There's no doubt that this was a great move for the Pistons organization moving forward. Wallace will get to spend time around this team and help them learn the ropes when it comes to developing as players in the NBA. For a young Pistons team that is still extremely young in their re-build process, adding a legend with the knowledge that Wallace is only going to help them in a big way.
