During the 1986-87 season, Chicago Bulls played two consecutive games against the Cleveland Cavaliers on a January weekend. They won the one at home and suffered the worst loss of the season at the home of the Cavs (114-84) the following day (24 January 1987).

Michael Jordan topped the scoring in the match with 27 points but couldn't rescue his team from a big loss. Phil Hubbard finished with a season-high 23 points leading the winner's scoreboard. With a huge fan following of Bulls due to the presence of Jordan, it was a day to forget for all of them.

The Cavaliers took an early lead of 14-2 in the first quarter due to four turnovers committed by the Bulls. Cavs finished the quarter with a score of 32-16 and extended it to 54-39 at half-time. Jordan hit 19 points in the first half which was just under half of his team's points. The Bulls had six basketless minutes in the third quarter which took the scores to 69-40 and finally finishing off at (114-84) without any recovery in the last quarter as MJ could only manage 8 points in the second half.
