The Asian region is playing their 2nd games before taking a break until February while Africa is concluding their first round robin.

FIBA Asia Group A

China 92, Korea Republic 81

Goyang, KOREA REPUBLIC-- China's Zhelin Wang pulled off a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while teammates Minghui Sun scored 21 and Yanhung Ding scored 30 points in the 11 point win over the Korea Republic. Hoon Heo of the Korea Republic led his team win 16 points in the loss.

China dominated from behind the arc with 47% shooting while the Korea Republic tried to equal by shooting only 36%.

New Zealand 133, Hong Kong 74

HONG KONG-- Jordan Ngati led New Zealand in an easy 59 point victory over Hong Kong in group play action. The New Zealanders' shooting was spectacular, shooting 68% from the field while only giving up 74 points with their defense. Hong Kong was led by Duncan Reid with 17 points and 8 rebounds

Next games are February 23rd: China (2-0) vs New Zealand (1-1), Korea Republic (1-1) vs Hong Kong (0-2)

Syria 74, India 57

Bengaluru, INDIA-- Michael Mendanly's 21 points were more than enough for Syria to defeat India by 17 points in their FIBA World Cup Qualifier match. India's poor three-point (18%) and free throw (54%) shooting proved to be the tipping point in the game. Syria dominated the points off turnovers 23-8. Satnam Singh Bharama led India with 14 points.

Jordan 87, Lebanon 83

Amman, JORDAN-- Darquavis Lamar Tucker scored 32 points in Jordan's win against Lebanon in group play. Wael Arakji scored 24 points for the Lebanese team. Jordan held off a comeback attempt by Lebanon after leading the first quarter by 9 points. The home team shot 50% from three-point range on their own court.

FIBA Africa Group A (both games in Yaoundé, Cameroon):

Chad 85, Guinea 51

Chad finally notches their first win of the qualifying tournament for the African region with a 34 point victory over Guinea and their irate coach. Chad's Placide Nakidjim scored a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds to improve his team to 1-2 in Group A. Naby Youssouf Sylla led Guinea in scoring with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Tunisia 67, Cameroon 66

A pair of 2-0 teams faced off with Tunisia squeaking out the victory in front of the Cameroonian crowd. Williams Narace of Cameroon scored 19 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double against a tough Tunisian defense. Omar Abada of Tunisia scored 15 points in the victory.

Next games are played June 29th: Tunisia (3-0) vs Guinea (0-3), Cameroon (2-1) vs Chad (1-2)

Egypt 67, Morocco 63

Ramy Gunady's 14 points were helpful in their close win against Morocco in their third game of the African Qualifiers. Morocco's 12% from three-point range was helpful for the Egyptians, as they enter their next slate of games with a record of 2-1, while Morocco falls to 1-2. Morocco's Adil El Makssoud nearly came away with the double-double by scoring 13 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.

Angola 73, DR Congo 64

Reggie Moore's 19 points helped Angola reach 3-0 in group play for the win against DR Congo at home. Shekinah Munanga Shekina scored 14 points and 9 rebounds in the loss. The game was close until the final 2 minutes of the game when Angola pulled away after poor three point shooting by DR Congo.

Montenegro 91, Belarus 67

Minsk, BELARUS-- Poor shooting from the Belarussians, including going 2 for 13 from three point range, helped Montenegro achieve a 24 point win. Blagota Sekulic achieved a double-double for Montenegro with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Belarus were led by Vitali Liutych with 18 points and 5 rebounds.

Spain 92, Slovenia 84

Burgos, SPAIN-- Quim Colom scored 25 points and 9 assists, resulting in a 8 point victory for the Spaniards against Slovenia. Gasper Vidmar lead Slovenia with 24 points and 7 rebounds. The game was fairly even until the fourth quarter, where Spain held onto the lead for the win in front of their home crowd.

Turkey 67, Ukraine 60

Kiev, UKRAINE-- In a hotly contested game in Kiev, Turkey pulled away at the last minute with a 7 point victory against Ukraine. Tolga Gecim was the leading scorer for the Turkish team with 16 points. Sergii Gldyr was the top performer for Ukraine with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Latvia 82, Sweden 73

Riga, LATVIA-- Behind Zanis Pieners' 18 points and 8 assists, along with 44% three-point shooting, Latvia achieved their first win of the tournament against Sweden. Tobias Borg was the top performer for the Swedes with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Latvia dominated defensively with 4 blocks to even out Sweden's 8 steals.

Klaipeda, LITHUANIA-- Eimantas Bendzius led the Lithuanian squad with 18 points in their victory over Poland by 20 points. Poland was led by Jakub Wojciechowski with 10 points and 7 rebounds in the loss. Poland's 13% three-point shooting was critical for the win for Lithuania.

Hungary 84, Kosovo 76

Debrecen, HUNGARY-- Lis Shoshi's double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds wasn't enough for Kosovo to obtain their first win in the international competition against Hungary. The Hungarians were led by David Vojvoda with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Rosco Allen of Hungary also made a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Italy 80, Croatia 64

Zagreb, CROATIA-- Darko Planinic pulled down a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in their loss to Italy. The Italians were led by Amedeo Della Valle with 25 points in the victory. Italy shot an impressive 43% from three-point range in the win. Italy improves to 2-0 while Croatia drops to 0-2.

Romania 75, Netherlands 68

Cluj, ROMANIA-- Romania wins in front of their home crowd with Emanuel Cate's 12 points and 8 rebounds. The Netherlands were highlighted by Henk Norel's 9 points and 7 rebounds in the loss. Romania out-assisted the Netherlands 21-10. Both teams move to 1-1 heading into their respective breaks.

Argentina 68, Panama 59

Panama City, PANAMA-- In a closely contested lineup, Argentina held off Panama for a 9 point win in group play action. Nicolas Laprovittola scored 19 points for Argentina in the win. Tony Bishop, Jr.'s double-double for 15 points and 13 rebounds wasn't enough for the home team. Panama's 11% from three-point range helped matters for the Argentinians during the game.

Uruguay 67, Paraguay 49

Montevideo, URUGUAY-- Mathias Cafani of Uruguay produced a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in his team's win over Paraguay heading into the long break. Paraguay abysmal 25% shooting from inside the arc proved to be costly for Paraguay. Bruno Zanotti led Paraguay with 19 points in the loss.

The United States 91, Mexico 55

Greensboro, NORTH CAROLINA, USA-- The United States cruises to an easy victory over border rivals Mexico in group play in qualification. Travis Wear produced a double-double for the Americans with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Mexico shot from 21% from the three-point line, which contributed to the Americans winning the game. Marco Ramos Esquivel led Mexico with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

Puerto Rico 95, Cuba 72

La Habana, CUBA-- Puerto Rico rebounded after a close loss to the USA with a 23 point victory over their Caribbean rivals, Cuba. Jasiel Rivero of Cuba led all scorers with 23 points. His teammate Javier Justiz Ferrer pulled down a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds in the loss. Only two players for Puerto Rico, Clemente and Vassallo scored in the double digits, 15 and 14 respectively.
