It was a ridiculously low-scoring game for Chris Paul, in fact, the lowest in the 2008-09 season. He ended the game with nine points, but his assists tally was outstanding.
The Hornets had a total of 26 assists in the game, and Chris Paul had 20. The next best provider on the team in that matchup was James Posey, who ended the game with two assists. At the end of that season, he led the league in assists and steals, averaging 11 assists and 2.8 steals.

In Chris Paul's final season with the LA Clippers, he came close to averaging a double-double in points and assists, but fell short with 0.8 assists per game. In 22 double-doubles (points and assists) he registered that season, his 20-point 20-assist game against the Pelicans might have been the most fulfilling.

Chris Paul had his highest assists in a game when the Hornets visited Staples Center on November 6, 2007, to take on the Lakers. The game ended in a 118-104 victory for the Hornets, thanks to Paul's genius.
It was the fourth game of the 2007-08 season, and Chris Paul registered his third double-double, leading the Hornets to a fourth victory of the season. The Hornets ended the game with a total of 39 assists, and Paul was responsible for 21 of them. In addition to that were 19 points, three rebounds, and three steals.
