Trae Young’s rookie season saw him announce himself as one of the hottest prospects in the NBA, as he constantly turned out key performances for a struggling Atlanta Hawks side on numerous occasions.

On March 1, 2019, in the game against the Chicago Bulls, the Hawks narrowly ended up losing to the Bulls in overtime, but Young emerged as one of the bright spots in the game.

He sank the infamous three-point that sent the game into overtime and had been on fire since the start of the game, carrying on his form from the previous weeks’ that had seen him set a then career-best record of 36 points, into the Bulls encounter.

Though the Hawks defense continued to give away points, Young led the charge in front, shooting 17-of-33 while on the floor. He also made six of his 13 three-point attempts on his way to passing his career point record, as he broke through the 40-point threshold for the first time, finishing the encounter with 49 points.

Trae Young became one of four rookies to finish an NBA game with over 45 points, 10 assists and five rebounds, being the first player to achieve the since Michael Jordan in 1985.

Trae Young equaled a career record 49 points in the opening weeks of the 2019-20 NBA season, excelling in an entertaining encounter with the Indiana Pacers. The No.11 was efficient in a 43-minute performance, outsmarting his opposing defense on countless occasions as the Hawks raced to an eleven-point first-half lead.

However, the Pacers sparked a comeback in the second half through T.J. Warren and Jeremy Lamb to end the contest with a slender 105-104 away victory. Despite a defensive disaster from the Hawks, Trae Young finished with an outstanding 16-of-28 from the field, scoring eight of his 15 three-pointers.

Trae Young followed up his impressive rookie season in the NBA with an even better performance in the 2019-20 season. Fresh from his All-Star appearance, Ice Trae put up a confident shooting masterclass, taking the gear to the next level as the Hawks battled the Miami Heat.

Despite the victory, the Miami Heat struggled to contain Young throughout the encounter. The youngster was featured for 39 minutes but finished the game with an unmatched 50 points to create a new career record, securing a field goal accuracy of 48%.

His three-point shooting caused problems for the Heat's defense as he sunk eight three-pointers in the match-up, some of them coming from way beyond the line. Trae Young scored 18 of the 19 free-throws attempted, adding eight assists and two steals to cap his best performance since joining the NBA.
