LeBron James supporters side with Travis Kelce and Chiefs after 4x MVP earns GOAT label from most players

LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players ever and his name is etched to the greatest of all-time debate alongside Michael Jordan’s. While James might not be having the best time in terms of NBA championships in the past few seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs have been absolutely dominant in the NFL.

The Chiefs have won the past two Super Bowls and are now on the hunt for a third straight title. The team posted a TikTok, which was reshared on X, where Chiefs players selected their NBA GOAT. To absolutely no surprise of anybody, Travis Kelce sided with LeBron James. The tight end said:

“Man, you already know, man. It’s all about 'Bron, man. Northeast Ohio, baby, something about the water.”

The four-time MVP's fans took kindly to Kelce’s selection and flooded X with their reactions.

“Kelce a real Cleveland sports fan,” a fan wrote referencing a 2014 tweet in which Kelce asked Cavs fans to not give up on Anthony Bennett.

More fans followed suit.

“Immaculate vibes. They’re def going to 3peat,” a fan said.
“some very smart people here. Excellent,” another added.
“Chiefs fan from today,” a fan said.

The reactions were expected as 17 players named LeBron James as the GOAT. However, X, formerly Twitter, being the place that it is, there were several fans who didn’t take kindly to the video.

“Bro I thought this was one of those parody’s until the TikTok watermark ending,” a fan said.
“56 is an idiot,” another wrote.

Travis Kelce’s support for LeBron James was expected

Travis Kelce was born in Ohio and spent most of his life there, so it wasn’t a surprise to see him rooting for LeBron James, who is from the same state as well.

Kelce was born in Westlake, Ohio, and attended high school at Cleveland Heights. He spent five years in college, one of which was redshirted, in Cincinnati.

James, meanwhile, was born in Akron, Ohio, and played high school basketball for St. Vincent–St. Mary High School. He didn’t attend college as he declared for the draft directly after high school. While Travis Kelce had to move out of Ohio after being drafted by the Chiefs, James got to stay in Ohio after being drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Both James and Kelce are arguably two of the best athletes to come out from Ohio in this century. While James has won four titles, Kelce has won three. However, don't be surprised if the Chiefs tight end matches James' ring count after the end of the 2024 season.
