He attended Texas A&M University and played for the Aggies men's basketball team, where he played from 2012 to 2016. In his senior season, Caruso led the Aggies to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, earned a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team, and was honored with second-team All-SEC recognition.
