The contact dunk requirements in NBA 2K23 aren’t very hard for players to understand. However, it does play a very important role in deciding how good your created character is while attempting dunks. Different variants of the popular scoring method are available in the game.

Contact dunks are among the hardest kind when it comes to scoring success. While the rate of pulling it off successfully is high, you’ll often have a defender contesting your attempt. Also, the requirements must be fulfilled before your in-game character can attempt it.

Thankfully, the system 2K Sports has followed is practically the same as in previous years. Moreover, it hasn’t been many changes since the game’s launch the last year Fall.

There are different contact dunk requirements that NBA 2K23 players will have to meet. It begins with a basic one that enables your in-game character to attempt a dunk in the first place. The decisions you then make regarding the contact dunk requirements will determine which types you can execute in the game.

  • Pro Contact Dunks: Requires 84+ Driving Dunk, 70+ Vertical
  • Pro Alley-Oop: Requires 70+ Driving Dunk, 60+ Vertical
  • Elite Contact Dunks: Requires 92+ Driving Dunk, 80+ Vertical
  • Elite Alley-Oop: Requires 85+ Driving Dunk, 60+ Vertical
  • Small Contact Dunks: Requires 86+ Driving Dunk, 85+ Vertical, Height under 6’5″
  • Pro Bigman Contact Dunks: Requires 80+ Standing Dunk, 65+ Vertical, height 6’10” or above.
  • Elite Bigman Standing Contact Dunks: Requires 90+ Standing Dunk, 75+ Vertical, height 6’10” or above.

The Elite Contact and Elite Bigman Standing tend to be the most popular ones as far as NBA 2K23 players are concerned. Once you have made the above-mentioned contact dunk requirements, there shouldn’t be any problems when you attempt to execute them in the game.


How to do contact dunks in NBA 2K23?

Unlocking the contact dunk requirements is just one part of the task. The next job for you will be to execute it in the game. Doing so is quite simple, but it requires a combination of two buttons to be pressed simultaneously.

  • While driving towards the rim, hold the R2/RT button.
  • Hold the X/A button.

Release the buttons when the meter is green to make the perfect dunk. While attempting it, remember to notice if there’s an opponent on the paint. You won’t be able to perform a contact dunk if someone else is on the paint, and this system hasn’t changed since the game launched.
