The 6-foot-11 center, Alperen Sengun was drafted as the 16th overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. However, the Thunders drafted Sengun on behalf of the Houston Rockets for multiple future first-round picks. The franchise has shown immense faith in the Turkish center since trading for him and has signed him on a five-year $185 million contract extension on October 22, 2024.

In the 2023-24 season, Sengun averaged 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He finished the season as one of three centers in the league to record 1000+ points and 300+ assists alongside Nikola Jokic and Domantas Sabonis. However, Sengun suffered an injury at the crucial end of the season and missed 18 games which hurt the Rockets' playoff chances as they fell short of their playoff push against the Golden State Warriors.
