Anfernee Simons, a shooting guard with the Portland Trail Blazers, was born on June 8, 1999. He was selected 24th pick in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft. He went to Edgewater High School but then transferred to the IMG Academy. Simons graduated in 2018 as a five-star recruit as per 247Sports. Following Satnam Singh Bhamara and Thon Maker, he became the third high school athlete to be selected in the NBA draft since 2015.

Simons alternated between playing for the NBA G League's Agua Caliente Clippers and the Blazers during the 2018-19 season. He attempted, but failed, to kiss the rim during the 2021 NBA All-Star Game's Slam Dunk Contest championship round, but he still completed the dunk. A vote of 3–2 crowned him the 2021 Slam Dunk Champion. The Portland Trail Blazers offered him a new four-year contract worth $100 million in July 2022. As of the 2023-24 season, he has participated in 319 games over his six seasons with the Trail Blazers, starting 143 of them and averaging 14.1 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.5 rebounds.

Knee Injury (March 2024)

Simons sustained three separate knee injuries on March 13, 20, and 22 of 2024. He played four games after missing the March 14 Portland Blazers vs. New York Knicks game. However, following a game on March 22 against the Los Angeles Clippers, he was sidelined for 12 days. The following season, on October 23, 2024, he played against the Golden State Warriors, making a comeback, as per Basketball Reference.

Thumb Injury (October 2023)

Simons suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb against the Los Angeles Clippers on October 25, 2023, as per CBS. This injury sidelined him for four to six weeks and he missed 18 consecutive games. He returned to play for the Portland Blazers against the Golden State Warriors on December 6, 2023. Ankle and Foot Injury (Feb-March 2023)

In a game against the Washington Wizards on February 14, 2023, Simons sprained his right ankle, causing him to miss three games. On March 1, 2023, he made his comeback playing for the Blazers against the New Orleans Pelicans. After playing for 20:04 minutes as the game's starter, he missed the following four games due to another ankle injury as per Basketball Reference.

Simons came back against the Philadelphia 76ers on March 10 and continued to play five games before suffering a foot injury against the Los Angeles Clippers on March 19. In a Portland Blazer vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game on March 5, 2022, Simons sustained patellar tendinopathy in his left knee. Originally thought to be a minor injury, Simons was sidelined for the rest of the season following a reassessment on March 28.
