Born on March 11, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois, United States, Anthony Davis is an American professional basketball player who plays as a power forward/center for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA as of February 2025. He won an NBA championship in 2020, and he was the NBA Cup champion in 2023. He earned many accolades in his playing career as of February 2025, including the NBA All-Star Game MVP in 2017 and the NBA Blocks Leader in 2014, 2015, and 2018. Additionally, he was named to the NBA All-Star ten times as of February 2025, from 2014 to 2021, 2024, and 2025. Davis was selected as the first overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Hornets (now known as the New Orleans Pelicans). In July 2019, he joined the Los Angeles Lakers, and in February 2025, Davis joined the Dallas Mavericks for the 2024-25 NBA season.

Davis enrolled at the University of Kentucky and joined the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team for the freshman season. He and his team won the NCAA Championship in 2012. He was named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player in the same year and also was named the National College Player of the Year. Additionally, during his freshman season, Davis was named the NABC Defensive Player of the Year, the USBWA National Freshman of the Year, the SEC Male Athlete of the Year, and the SEC Player of the Year.
