Kris and Keegan were born on August 19, 2000, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. Both the players joined Prairie High School in their home town. Kris averaged 19.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game at Prarie High School. Keegan was selected as a high school senior Metro Player of the Year.
After graduating, they went to DME Academy in Florida for a postgraduate year. Following a postgraduate year, the twins joined the Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball team in 2020.
College Career
In his first year of college, Kris played 13 games. He averaged 9.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in his second season at college.
Keegan started playing college basketball in 2020. He scored a season-high 14 points and nine rebounds in a match against Rutgers on January 2, 2021.
At College, Keegan competed against several teams, including North Carolina Central, Virginia, Utah State, and Nebraska. In 2022, Keegan became the top power forward across the nation and received the Karl Malone Award. After two seasons at college, Keegan declared for the 2022 NBA draft on March 29, 2022.
After Keegan’s entry to the NBA draft, Kris Murray also declared for the 2022 NBA draft after his second year of college but withdrew his name. Kris continued to play college basketball at Iowa. In his junior year at Iowa, he averaged 20.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. After this season, Kris entered the 2023 NBA draft.
NBA Journey
Keegan Murray was the fourth overall pick of the Sacramento Kings in the 2022 NBA draft. He played in the 2022 NBA Summer League and averaged 23 points, 7 rebounds and two rebounds per game. He was named the MVP of the league.
On January 20, 2023, Keegan had a career-high 29 points over the Oklahoma City Thunder. After finishing the regular season, he received the 2023 NBA All-Rookie First Team award.
