Ausar Thompson’s Wingspan
Ausar Thompson’s wingspan is listed at 6’11’
While many young talents struggle defensively when they first join the NBA, Thompson's outstanding agility and 6 ‘11’ wingspan should help him develop into a talented defender.
Having a long wingspan can provide several advantages for guards in basketball:
Steals and Deflections: A long wingspan can make it easier to intercept passes, tip balls, and disrupt the opposing team's offense. Guards can use their long arms to get into passing lanes and cause turnovers, which can lead to fast-break opportunities for their team.
Rebounding: Guards with long wingspans can be effective rebounders, especially on the defensive end of the court. Their length can allow them to reach over opponents and grab rebounds, which can start a fast break or prevent second-chance points for the opposing team.
Shooting: A long wingspan can give guards an advantage when shooting, particularly when shooting over defenders. Their long arms can help them get their shot off more easily, and their release point can be higher than that of a guard with a shorter wingspan, making it harder for defenders to contest the shot.
Defense: Guards with long wingspans can be effective defenders, as their length can make it harder for opponents to shoot or pass around them. They can also use their long arms to contest shots and disrupt the opposing team's offense.
Overall, having a long wingspan can be a significant advantage for guards in basketball, as it can improve their ability to steal the ball, rebound, shoot, and defend.
