The young combo guard was the third-best player for the Los Angeles Lakers, behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis last season. By showing his versatile gameplay the guard has made the starting position his, and acts as a floor-general for the team. In the 2022-23 season, he scored 13.0 ppg and aided the Lakers to reach the 2023 playoffs, but the team’s journey came to an end as they lost against the eventual NBA Champions, the Denver Nuggets. His stellar play has earned him a contract extension with the team and he is now in a position to play the next four seasons in LA.

After the offers from the many teams, Reaves himself wanted to be with the Lakers. He has been a Lakers fan since childhood and has grown up supporting and cheering for the Lakers. It feels like home to him. Austin Reaves agreed to return to his dream team LA Lakers for the next four years for $56 million. He will be excited to expand his professional game exposure while playing with stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Coach Steve Kerr had also picked the Lakers’ guard for the recently concluded FIBA Basketball World Cup. This was his first international tournament and debut in the World Cup.
