In the 2021 NBA draft, Reaves got an offer from the Detroit Pistons who planned on signing him to a two-way contract. He declined the offer as he wasn’t getting a guaranteed roster spot. The next month after the draft selections, Reaves signed a two-way contract with the Lakers on 3 August 2021.
