Austin Tyler Reaves is a shooting guard currently playing for the LA Lakers in the NBA. He was born on 29 May 1998 in Newark, Arkansas, United States. He has an ideal height of 6 ft 5 for a guard and can be effective on both ends of the court.

In high school, Reaves won class 2A state titles consecutively for 2 years. In a game against Forest City High School, he scored 73 points. He was a three-star prospect and for his college performance, Reaves got offers from South Dakota, Arkansas and Wichita State. He joined Wichita State on 20 January 2016.

Injuries can play a big part in how an individual's career develops. As for Austin, he has faced issues with his shoulders ever since high school. In his freshman year, he averaged 4.1 points as he was in the reserves. He had to go through surgery for his shoulder due to injuries throughout the season. Reaves had to sit out the next season due to the NCAA transfer rules as he transferred to Oklahoma after his sophomore year. During this time he worked out and built his physic. In his senior year, Reaves averaged 18 points, 4.6 assists and 5 rebounds.

In the 2021 NBA draft, Reaves got an offer from the Detroit Pistons who planned on signing him to a two-way contract. He declined the offer as he wasn’t getting a guaranteed roster spot. The next month after the draft selections, Reaves signed a two-way contract with the Lakers on 3 August 2021. He made most of his time during the summer league averaging 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Reaves strong summer league was rewarded less than two months later when his two-way contract was turned into an official NBA contract.

Austin Reaves plays as a shooting guard and small forward for the Los Angeles Lakers. His height is 6 ft 5 with a wing span of 6 ft 6 inches and weight of 200 lbs. His physic is ideal for the guard position and is capable of finishing through contact. In the 2022/23 seasons, Reaves went from being the backup on a two-way contract to being called the third star in the Lakers after LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

During his first year playing for the Lakers alongside Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Reaves got decent playing time due to the Lakers squad experimenting with the squad and giving chances to the younger players. He made the most out of this opportunity and overall his best game was the last game of the season where he posted a triple-double of 31 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists in a road win against the Denver Nuggets.

Reaves second season with the Lakers was even better as he has nearly doubled both his points per game and assits per game from 7.3 to 13 and from 1.8 to 3.4 respectively.
