Australia win gold in Asia Oceania Wheelchair basketball championship

Both the men’s and women’s teams of Australia won gold at the IWBF (International Wheelchair Basketball Federation) Asia Oceania Wheelchair Basketball Championship held at Bangkok, Thailand.

In the final, the Australian men’s team defeated Korea 63-46 while the Australian women defeated China 57-35 to win gold in the championship. Iran won the men’s bronze defeating Japan 80-53 while Chinese Taipei won the women’s bronze defeating Thailand 66-13.

By winning the Asia Oceania Wheelchair Basketball Championship, the Australian men’s and women’s teams have booked their tickets to the 2014 IWBF World Wheelchair Basketball Championship.
