Edrice Femi “Bam” Adebayo is an American professional basketball player, born on July 18, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey, United States. His parents are Marilyn Blount and John Adebayo. Bam Adebayo attended Northside High School. During his first three years, he averaged 32.2 points and 21 rebounds per game. At the 2015 Under Armour Elite 24 game, he was named MVP. He then moved to North Carolina to attend the High Point Christian Academy. Adebayo was named the North Carolina Mr. Basketball in 2016 and is among the notable alumni of his high school. He played in the McDonald’s All-American and the Jordan Brand Classic in 2016.
He went to Kentucky and played for the Kentucky Wildcats Men's Basketball Team. The Miami Heat selected him as their center with the fourteenth overall pick on July 1, 2017. As of August 2024, Adebayo has been named to the Second-team All-SEC and the SEC All-Freshman team in 2017, the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2024, and the four-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team from 2020 to 2023. He was named the NBA All-Star team thrice in 2020, 2023, and 2024.
