Bam Adebayo is an American basketball player currently signed with the Miami Heat in the NBA. Born on July 18, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey, Adebayo is known for his ferocious defense.

Adebayo’s mother gave him his unique nickname "Bam” when she saw him mimicking The Flintstones character ‘Bamm-Bamm Rubble’. His journey to basketball stardom began at Northside High School in Pinetown, North Carolina where his remarkable junior year stats of 32.2 points and 21.0 rebounds per game showcased his star potential.

As a five-star athlete, Adebayo joined the famed University of Kentucky in 2015, where he played alongside future NBA stars De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk. Drafted 14th overall by the Miami Heat in 2017, Adebayo’s first two seasons were underwhelming, but he broke out in the third season as he became an All-Star.

Adebayo is a lockdown defender and equally good player on the offensive end. In November 2023, Adebayo made history by recording a triple-double with 22 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, and adding two steals and two blocks in a thrilling 108–107 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. This remarkable performance marked him as the first player in Miami Heat history to achieve a 20-point and 20-rebound triple-double in a single game.

His illustrious career includes All-Star selections in 2020, 2023, and 2024, two NBA Finals appearances, and five Defensive Second Team honors, solidifying his status as a rising star in the basketball world.
