Bennedict Mathurin is one of the brightest young stars in the league. The Indiana Pacers rookie has been fantastic so far this season, averaging 19.3 points and 3.9 rebounds.
Maturin, who was the sixth overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, has been one of the best 3-point shooters in the league so far. With 42.1% long-range conversion rate, the 6-foot-6 swingman leads all rookies in 3-pointers made.
It's also interesting that the Pacers rookie achieved a unique record in the first two months of the professional league. Thanks to his soft shooting touch, Bennedict Mathurin has separated himself from the rest of the rookies in the league's history.

Bennedict Mathurin set a unique rookie record
According to Justin Kubatko of Statitudes, the Indiana Pacers rookie tied the NBA record for fewest games needed to make 40 3-pointers. Mathurin achieved this amazing feat in only 16 games, which is impressive.
The 20-year-old became the only player in the league's history to make 40 3-pointers and 80 free throws in the first 16 games of his career. Considering how great he has been, this comes as no surprise.
During his rookie campaign so far, Mathurin has converted 82.5% of his free throws. The young star ranks first among all rookies who take three or more free throws per game.

His offensive game has been nothing but fantastic, and it's not surprising that he's the second-best rookie scorer. With Paolo Banchero out with an injury, the Pacers guard has taken the reins of the Rookie of the Year race.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the young rookie is that he hasn't started a single game. He's averaged 27.6 minutes per game, however, and has shown a lot of potential.
While we are still in the early stages of the 2022-23 season, Mathurin's growth has been fun to watch. If he keeps this up, he could easily become one of the league's best scorers.
