Boban Marjanovic is a Serbian professional basketball player who plays for the Houston Rockets in the NBA. Standing at 7 feet and 4 inches, Marjanovic is listed as the tallest active player in the NBA, alongside Victor Wembanyama. Marjanovic was born and raised in East Serbia and while his family members were of average height, he was very tall from a very young age. A pituitary gland condition is thought to have contributed to his gigantism.

By the time Marjanovic was 14, he was 6 feet 10 inches tall, and played for Serbian professional team Hemofarm. Before the NBA, Marjanovic excelled in the EuroLeague, and holds the record for the most double-doubles recorded in a season with 16. In his 24 games with the EuroLeague, Marjanovic averaged 16.6 points and a league-leading 10.7 rebounds which was the most in the league since 2000/01.

Marjanovic entered the NBA as a 27-year-old rookie and was picked up by the San Antonio Spurs for a $1.2 million contract in 2015. He spent most of his first season going from the Spurs' main team and their D League affiliate team. In his stint in the NBA, Marjanovic’s rebounding caught the attention of most scouts. His impressive and ferocious pressure on the boards always ensured that he came up with loose balls. In a game versus the Phoenix Suns, Marjanovic became the first player in the Spurs franchise history to record 12 or more rebounds in 15 minutes or less.

After his first season, Marjanovic signed a three-year $21 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, where he mostly played as the backup center to Andre Drummond and Aaron Baynes.

Over the years, Marjanovic has developed a reputation for being one of the most likable players in the NBA. Even though his production has declined over the years, teams still sought to sign him due to his incredible locker room presence, his sense of humor and his gentle giant feeling. Marjanovic has since played for the LA Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
