The 2015 SEC Player of the Year award winner Portis was drafted late into the NBA. He was selected as the 22nd overall pick by the Chicago Bulls, where he spent 4 seasons as a role player. But his energy, versatility, and competitive spirit quickly endeared him to fans and teammates alike, setting the stage for the achievements that would follow.

Bobby Portis’ NBA title run

After playing a second fiddle role at the Bulls, Portis was later traded to Washington Wizards. But the change of team could not change his role. After a season-long stint at the capital and later at the Big-apple, Portis found a steady role at the Milwaukee Bucks.

Led by superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee team was a title favourite in 2021. Playing behind the Greek-freak Bobby Portis maintained his output and even had some career-high performances with the team. Portis became a regular figure in the Bucks’ rotation and managed to impact the game with his strong presence on the floor.

In the playoffs also, he filled in for the injured Antetokounmpo as starting forward and helped his team with a standout performance of 22 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals in 36 minutes. The crowd was behind Portis for his extraordinary performance helping the team to win the 1st round with ease.

The Bucks went on to win the close contest against Western Conference champions Phoenix Suns in 6 games, while Portis was rewarded with a renewed contract of $90 million for 2 years.
