Bradley Beal is a professional basketball player currently playing as a shooting guard for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Beal attended the Chaminade Preparatory High School and started making highlights from then itself. In fact, Beal was so good that he was part of Team USA for the 2010 FIBA Under-17 World Championship and averaged 18 points per game to secure the gold medal. In addition to winning the tournament, Beal made the All-Tournament team and won the MVP award. In his senior season, Beal averaged a whopping 32.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while winning the 2011 Gatorade Player of the Year Award.
Beal was a five-star recruit coming out of high school and in the summer of 2009, Beal committed to the University of Florida. While playing for the Gators, Beal won the SEC Freshman of the Week honor five times and went on to be named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and was a first-team All-SEC selection. Beal finished the season averaging 14.8 points, leading his team to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament before losing to Louisville. After his freshman year, Beal declared to the NBA draft let go of the final three years of his college career.
In the 2012 NBA draft, Beal was drafted by the Washington Wizards with the third overall pick, pairing him with superstar point guard John Wall with the hopes of creating a dynamic backcourt. These hopes were definitely met as Beal and Wall would go on to be one of the most unguardable and dynamic tandems in the NBA. Beal earned All-Rookie first-team honors in his first season and ever since has shown an innate ability to put the ball through the hoop. In the 2014 season, Beal got his first taste of playoff action when the Wizards faced the Bulls in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. They got past the Bulls before losing to the Pacers in the second round in six games. With the experience of playoff basketball, Beal grew as a player and had the first of many all-star appearances in the 2015 season. A lot of discussion was going on as to whether Beal was the second-best shooting guard in the NBA behind James and for good reason. After a few more injury-plagued seasons with the Wizards, Beal got traded to the Phoenix Suns this offseason where he will be playing alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
Bradley Beal's 50-point games
Bradley Beal was not known as much of a scorer in his early days with the Wizards. But once John Wall went down with an Achilles injury, much of the scoring burden fell upon Beal and he embraced that challenge. In the 2019-20 season, Beal averaged 30.3 points, finishing second in the scoring leaders. The following season, Beal followed up his monster year by averaging 31.4, again finishing second in the scoring leaders. In these two seasons, Beal piled up 50-point games and had a total of 5, which matches the entire total for his career.
