Brandon Miller is an American college basketball player who plays as a shooting guard/small forward for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He is regarded as one of the top picks in the 2023 NBA draft and was a consensus five-star recruit in the 2022 class.
Born to Darrell and Angela Miller on November 22, 2002 in Antioch, Brandon Miller initially chose Cane Ridge High School for his high school basketball career. As a junior, he averaged 23.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists and won the Gatorade Player of the Year for Tennessee. After averaging 24.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists as a senior, he was named to the McDonald’s All-American game and also played in the high school All-Star basketball game, the Jordan Brand Classic. While he had offers from Kansas and Tennessee State, Miller chose to play college basketball in Alabama.
Miller averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in the 2022/23 season with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Brandon Miller’s groin injury
Brandon Miller injured his groin during the Finals of the SEC. Despite playing for 19 minutes, he went scoreless for the first time in his playing history. However, Alabama won the game 96-75.
Coach Nate Oats said: “Miller will not be able to come to practice due to his injury and there is still a doubt of Miller playing further matches. He is currently focusing on complete rehabilitation so that he can rejuvenate his physical abilities and can lower the risk of re-injury.”
As a freshman at Alabama, he scored a career-high 41 points, the highest in the team history of a freshman, and won the SEC weekly honor. The 2022-23 season has been excellent for Miller on the court but off the court was quite challenging as he was alleged for having some connection in the Jamea Harris murder case. Miller’s former teammate Darius Miles and one other individual were charged under that case.
