The Brooklyn Nets have found themselves frequently appearing in the national spotlight. Unfortunately, for Brooklyn, it has been for the wrong reasons.

As of now, the Nets currently sit with a 4-7 record to start the 2022-23 regular season. The team continues to deal with distractions off the court. After the recent controversy involving Kyrie Irving, the star point guard was suspended by the organization.

Brooklyn is attempting to climb out of a hole that they have created. The team started off slow, losing five of their first six games of the year. Since then, the Nets have shown some signs of life. They have won two of their last three games, including a nail-biting 96-94 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

Next up for Brooklyn will be a showdown on Wednesday night against the New York Knicks. The Knicks currently find themselves at 5-5 on the season and will be eager to pick up a win and get above .500 on the season. When asked about the issues with the Nets, forward Julius Randle shared that he isn't concerned with what is happening in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Nets look to get back on track

It's been a nightmare of a start to the 2022-23 season for the Brooklyn Nets. The hope is that things are going to get better moving forward. Brooklyn has found itself dealing with a laundry list of issues to start the year.

After former head coach Steve Nash was dismissed, the team was searching for a new man in charge. The Nets would be immediately connected to Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka. The former Celtics coach is currently suspended due to "violations of team policies."

The expectation was that Brooklyn would hire Udoka as their new head coach. During that same time, the Nets had appointed assistant coach Jacque Vaughn as their interim head coach.

After traction on a potential Udoka hire cooled off, the Nets announced on Wednesday that they were hiring Vaughn as their full-time head coach. Vaughn has been an assistant with the Nets for seven years.

He has head coaching experience, as he was named interim head coach in 2020 when Kenny Atkinson stepped down as Brooklyn's head coach. During the final 10 games of the season, Vaughn went on to post a 7-3 record.

There's still plenty of time for the Brooklyn Nets to find their groove. One of the bright points of the Nets' play this season has been superstar Kevin Durant. In eleven games this season, Durant is averaging 31.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. He's also shooting 51.8% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.

Brooklyn will hope to pick up a much-needed victory on Wednesday night against the New York Knicks. After that, the team will head to the West Coast for the beginning of a four-game road trip. During that trip, Brooklyn will face the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers.
