Born on August 8, 1994 in Memphis, Tennessee, Cameron Payne is a 29-year-old point guard who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers. Payne was recently traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to 76ers, which sent Pat Beverley to the Bucks.

Drafted with the 14th overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015, Payne has played for six NBA teams and has made the playoffs five times, reaching the NBA Finals once. He has consistently served as a valuable asset coming off the bench throughout his NBA career.

Cameron Payne has been a consistent and efficient scorer from beyond the arc this season, averaging 38.2% from the 3-point line as of March 2024. Moreover, his playmaking skills add versatility to teams and helps create scoring opportunities for others, as he is averaging 2.5 assists coming off the bench and 4.5 assists as a starter.

Cameron Payne played college ball for Murray State University. He made his college debut on November 8, 2013, scoring 21 points, second best debut in Murray State history. He averaged 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game as a freshman, and saw himself accumulate nine Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the week awards, a record for Murray State. He was also named the OVC Freshman of the year with a place on the All-OVC First Team.

In his sophomore season,​ Payne won the OVC Player of the year award after leading Murray State to an OVC record 25 game winning streak. Murray State Racers were two-time regular season champs in the OVC west during his time there.

Payne is ranked as the 26th top scorer in Murray State Racers history as of March 2024, and is the second fastest to 1000 points for the university. He was the fourth to score 700 points in a single season and 209 assists made him the second ever to reach 200 assists in a season for Murray State.

Cameron Payne’s jersey was retired by Murray State, having his jersey no.1 lifted to the rafters at the CFSB Center. He was also inducted into the Murray State Hall of Fame in 2020.
