Charles A. Bassey is a Nigerian professional basketball player hailing from Lagos, Nigeria. He plays center/power forward for the San Antonio Spurs as of December 2024. Bassey started his NBA professional career after being selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft. Additionally, he played for the Delaware Blue Coats in the NBA G League. After playing with the 76ers in the 2021-2022 season, Bassey joined the Spurs on October 24, 2022, and signed a two-way contract, where he played for the Austin Spurs in the 2022-23 NBA G League season. He was named to the NBA G League Next Up Game in 2023. Bassey was also named to the All-NBA G League Second Team, the NBA G League All-Defensive Team, and the NBA G League All-Rookie Team in 2022.

Bassey attended Western Kentucky University (WKU) in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and joined the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers men's basketball team. He finished his collegiate career with 1,142 points, 184 blocks, and 757 rebounds in 72 games. He was named the Conference USA Player of the Year in 2021, the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and 2021, and the Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2019. According to his college profile, Bassey was named the USBWA Third Team All-American, the USA Today Third Team All-American, the AP Honorable Mention All-American, the Basketball Times Second Team All-American, and the Lute Olson All-American during his junior season. Bassey declared for the 2021 NBA Draft, forgoing his final season.
